Back in May I started a rebrand our long running site Do the Woo to Open Channels FM. Early June I announced the new brand. There is a lot of reasons for the rebrand, some of which I have talked about there and some yet to come.
One thing stands out. The featured images on the podcasts.
When the first rebrand happened, I changed out several of the latest images to reflect the new brand.
That was just the start.
Upon reflection, I wanted every freaking image to reflect the brand. At that time there was well over 650+. So it started. One by one. In Canva.
That led to more images via the blog and elsewhere that needed to be redone.
Then one night I had a better idea on the structure. So much better. Which involved rebranding them all again, one by one.
And recently yet another idea hit me to get rid of all images with guest and host photos. (The reasoning behind this, well, that’s for another time and place.)
The last iteration I will say was easier as it involved changes that could be done in a few bulk actions.
Why am I telling you this?
I am guessing about 1,800 total images have been rebranded, one at a time, since May. You may think I am absolutely nuts, but it had to be done and no automation would do what I needed.
Do I regret this?
After hours and months in Canva, no I do not. Yes, I kick myself a bit as I would have hoped to get it right in the first place.
But rebranding is not an easy task. And each iteration, whether it’s visually or structurally, can throw things off big time.
And 6 months later, I’m happy with what I did. And the best part is it’s much more streamlined moving forward.
The lesson in all this. “I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.” :)
