The other day I was thinking about the covers for records, aka albums, vinyl, etc.
Specifically in the 70’s when I had ownership of about 600 records, I can remember all the times that I would be engrossed in looking at the covers while listening to the music.
And inside you might find pages of lyrics, some history of the band or individual or various other notes.
But the artwork was often amazing. Intricate and sometimes mind blowing. Of course there were plenty that were on the edge. But they were freakin’ great. Think black light posters. And yes, some amazing photos as well.
But also gotta admit sometimes they were even more mind-bending after ingesting or smoking something, something.
Oddly enough, by coincidence, a great photographer I follow on Mastodon and a few other socials, had shared his dream of someday having one of his photos used on a vinyl cover.
The love and dreams of record covers live on.
