I remember the first time I used a computer, it was an IBM with a large, massive floppy disk and a close second, a Radio Shack TRS80.
My life before the early 80’s was sans computer.
If I was to look at what it would be like, moving forward from this day on without a computer, it would be one of two things.
- Computers no longer exist and have been replaced by an advanced technology.
- Some other not so obvious reason for living sans computer.
Having the thought of just deciding to not use a computer, well, that is unfathomable for so many reasons. It would be an endless list of “what if”.
So instead I can look back at my own life without a computer. But again, that is comparing apples and oranges. Simply because that little computer chip has changed so many things.
What do I miss most in the computerless world?
Radio.
I grew up with radio and it was an integral part of my life. I could go on with story after story about radio. From hanging with a FM DJ in the 70’s to losing my first really cool radio by leaving it at the beach.
So in a nutshell, I cannot really imagine a life without a computer. And if I was to try, it would have to be my life literally without a computer, but having experienced it, rather than conjecture.
But on the hand, never say never.
