In the last show of 2018, I am sharing what you can expect— from this podcast, our other podcast, and the blog here on BobWP.com.
BobWP: Your eCommerce and WordPress Source
This is sort of new, but we feel it’s still big news for us. Over the last three years, more and more of the content here has become focused on eCommerce, WordPress and monetization. While it was a gradual change, come January, you can count on a total focus on eCommerce in the WordPress space.
It’s definitely a huge area that covers a lot, but we feel this is the best move, both for us and for you, our readers and listeners.
The BobWP eCommerce Show
In a couple of months, this show will be three years old. There have been a few small gaps here and there, but it’s been pretty much a mainstay of our site. Over this time, we have made a few changes and tweaks, but we have primarily talked about eCommerce and WordPress. We have kept with that focus, bringing in many guests who have enriched the content with tips for marketing, social media, taxes, shipping, security and other crucial topics for anyone who owns an eCommerce site, whether it’s on WordPress or something else.
This coming year, we will be talking about WordPress and eCommerce, in the context of providing both products and services. We aim to share all the great tools that are out there for helping you with your online store. At the same time, our guests will bring you insights on how to make the most effective use of their services or products.
Note: after this post went out, we have started an effort to bring back transcripts to our show in 2019. Can you help us?
Do the Woo – a Podcast on WooCommerce
Once we started the more general eCommerce podcast, as much as I wanted to keep it up, the Do the Woo went into hiatus until earlier this year, when it was up and running again. Still, there was something missing. I liked the idea of having a permanent co-host, someone I could bounce ideas back and forth with. To make a long story short, Brad Williams from WebDevStudios agreed to join the show.
We have made a few changes for 2019. It will still come out twice a month, but we will add a guest each episode. In each episode, will explore something in the WooCommerce space, talk about bits and pieces of WooCommerce stuff, and pull in interesting info relevant to the bigger eCommerce picture. A three-way conversation if you will.
Liquid Web will continue to be our sponsor and we are grateful for their support.
The BobWP Blog
Back to the meat of this site: our blog. We are committed to building our blog as one of the top sources for eCommerce in the WordPress space. This is not an impossible task; we are very close.
In fact, I may even bump up on the content. Am I going to label myself as a daily blogger. Nah. But I will say that there will be days when we double up on the content going out.
We will not only continue to bring you tutorials and posts on WooCommerce and Easy Digital Downloads, but other options in this space and, of course, many of the tools and services out there to help you grow your online store or monetize your site.
The New WordPress Editor
As you know, WordPress 5.0 brought us a new editor. And it’s all about working with blocks. I know that many people will remain with the classic editor, and some will choose to switch. In any case, we will try our best to update older posts and include the new editor in future posts.
There will be a lot of exciting stuff to show you over the next year and beyond regarding blocks.
Psssst. Remember That 48-Hour Content Marathon We Did Last Year?
If you don’t, well, we created 48 pieces of content, posts, videos and podcasts that we pushed out hourly for two full days. It was crazy. It was fun. It was exhausting. And I never thought we would do that again.
Well, guess what. Never say never.
The 48-Hour eCommerce Content Marathon will happen. And it will all be content focused on WordPress and eCommerce, a mix of text, video and audio. I have a few different approaches to this on my mind and will be able to give more details later.
We are shooting for February again, but we will see. The date will be formally announced as we get closer.
That’s it. A new year coming our way and we hope you stay with us! Cheers, peace and have a wonderful, holiday season.
