These days, I don’t get on a plane that much to go to WordCamps, with the exception of WordCampUS and WordCamp Seattle. Being in the upper western corner of the states, I can’t drive to very many of them. But even though it’s 3.5 hours away, I do like to attend the WordCamp in Portland, OR.
Opening Up a Beginner Track
In my almost nine years of teaching in the WordPress space, I have never shied away from talking about the basics. In fact, it’s always fun to reconnect and interact with people who are just beginning their WordPress journey.
As a result, I was asked to do the Intro to WordPress workshop for the beginner track that day: a grand, one-hour tour of the dashboard. It’s always enjoyable—and challenging—to find new and creative ways to talk about something that often comes second nature to those of us whose careers are based on WordPress.
Portland to Portland: a Coast-to-Coast Podcast
When I learned that Portland, Oregon, and Portland, Maine are both having their WordCamps on the same day, I thought, what are the odds of that? And then I wondered how I could take advantage of something that would probably never happen again. I discovered that my friend Chris Badgett, from LifterLMS was part of the organizing team of the Maine Camp. Knowing his love of podcasting and doing Facebook Live events, I knew I had found my partner in crime.
So come November 3rd, we will be doing some kind of podcast. We are staying flexible on who will pull and or how long the podcast will even go, but I’ll share more details as we get closer.
Hope to See You at WordCamp Portland
Now comes the fun part. If you are going to be there, let’s make sure to say hi, meet up, chat for a bit, or ponder life lessons around WordPress. There is nothing I enjoy more than reconnecting with old friends and meeting new people.
So mark down November 3, 2018, and join the rest of us WordPress peeps for a day of learning and fun. And obviously, there are so many great speakers and sessions you will find on the schedule. Plus, don’t forget to snag that ticket for only $20. Yes, twenty one-dollar bills for a full day of learning, networking, lunch and after-party.
See you there!
