Note: this plugin has not been updated for over 2 years, and this post is an older one. If the plugin isn’t working for you, I would recommend finding another one.
WordPress has a pretty slick way to create a simple gallery. But when you click on a thumbnail, your only options are the default of opening the image in a new post or a, blank browser window. What if you would prefer a simple slideshow? This tutorial will show you how to set up your gallery using the WordPress built in gallery feature by adding and setting up the plugin Gallery Carousel Without Jetpack.
Once you have installed the plugin, you will find it on your Settings > Media Page. Just remember, all galleries that you create now will automatically have a slide show.
Enable carousel: this turns the plugin on.
Background color: this plug only has two colors for the background of the slideshow, white and black.
Metadata: this will show the cameras metadata in the slideshow. Most people won’t want this to be shown unless you are a photographer and have an audience of photographers.
After you have created you gallery, it is now easy to edit your gallery at any time. You can edit title, description, caption and rearrange the order of the images. It is also easy to delete or add images.
