Being the editor of an online WordPress news site can keep you busy. That is exactly what Emily Schiola does at WPEngine’s Torque Magazine.
I invited her on for a neighborly chat about her job, her love for the written word and a few other fun topics.
Although I intended to start with Emily sharing what she does at Torque, I instead was curious whether, like many writers, she labels herself as a introvert. From there, we did talked about her current position at Torque and what she did prior to that. She then shared some things she has learned since immersing herself in the WordPress community.
I asked Emily about the favorite part of editing and the part she finds the least appealing. We chatted about how, by osmosis, she learned more about WordPress than she ever imagined and whether she suffered any from friends and family who expected that she would know WordPress inside and out.
And no talk with an editor would be complete without finding out what drives her the most nuts when it comes to punctuation or grammar.
I also wanted to know if, being a writer, she was an avid reader and what she most liked to read. Hint. It’s not books about WordPress.
Somewhere in the mix, we discussed our mutual love of cats. Lastly, loving movies myself, I just had to know what she found so appealing about bad movies.
Won’t you join us?
