Depending on the number of products you have in your shop, it may be advantageous for you to display the products in a category or subcategory on your shop or catalog page on your WooCommerce store.
Make Your WooCommerce Category Products Stand Out
The WooCommerce Nested Category Layout extension organizes the products in your categories on specific pages of your WooCommerce store.
The settings are under your WooCommerce Settings > Products > General. It’s simple and has two options.
- How many products.
- Whether you want to show sub-categories of a category.
As you can see here, I have a sub-category for microphones, so I will toggle that:
The Shop Page
If we look at the default shop page, this is what we will see:
If the plugin is activated, now your shop page is more organized by categories.
When someone views a category page, they get all the products assigned to that category, as well as the products for the sub-category. In this instance, you can see that microphone accessories are intermingled with the microphones.
With the extension and the microphone setting toggled, we get the microphones and accessories separated.
Reordering the Display of Categories
You can reorder the display of the categories on the shop page by going into your product categories and dragging-and-dropping them in the order you want.
If you are looking for a way to add a bit more organization to your shop and category page, I suggest you check out the WooCommerce Nested Category Layout extension.
