Carrie Dils is a mainstay in the WordPress space and someone you can always expect to share a few good laughs with. I’ve known Carrie for a few years and although we both have made education a big part of our space at different times, we also enjoy any chance to catch up with each other.
I started the show with the topic of freelancing, but it wasn’t exactly your ‘normal’ conversation. We had the opportunity to share how and why we got into freelancing, one of our biggest screw-ups early on, and that moment that came along that caused us to reflect on what we might expect in the world of freelancing.
We also talked a bit about getting out of the WordPress bubble, specifically around the subject of professional conferences. Between the two of us, we have attended a hefty number of WordCamps and other WordPress-related conferences, but I wanted to hear about her recent experience at Social Media World. It was interesting to hear what she had to say about everything from her comfort level to what she learned from the event.
Lastly, we chatted about Carrie’s musical experience and some of the unique performances she has graced us with.
