After a lengthy hiatus, I am bringing back the Seattle WooCommerce meetup. Initial plans were put into place late 2019. But as it was delayed a bit into the new year, by the time it was ready to go, Seattle became the first epicenter in the US for COVID-19.
As everyone was scrambling to revisit in-person meetups and Meetup.com was grappling with a new model, it became apparent that I need to let this play out a bit longer.
Keeping It Local, but Going Global
The biggest challenge is to retain the local feel of any WooCommerce meetup, but to also graciously accept anyone who wants to attend. At the same time we have to realize between so many meetups, both WooCommerce and WordPress, no one is going to attend all of them, or even a small percentage, long-term. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
My Plans for WooCommerce Meetup
I have my own thoughts on moving forward. I do know that I want to focus on beginners and those who are looking to grow their stores. These ideas will be shared with attendees at our first virtual meetup and I will be anxious to hear thoughts and feedback.
There are a lot of unknowns in the future, so I am hopeful even when the idea of in-person meetups returns, that virtual will remain an added option.
I’m going to leave it at that and will return to write a post on what we decide to do as we move forward.
If you are interested and in the Seattle/Puget Sound area (or even if you are not), you can RSVP here for Thursday, May 14th, 2 pm PDT.
