As you probably know, a while back we took off our podcast sponsorships. Since then, we have added a couple of new shows. In all, this is what we are currently running these days on our site:
We had several reasons for taking a breather from the sponsorship model. Funders were experiencing burnout and as the podcaster producers, we found the solicitation process both cumbersome and time consuming. But all that doesn’t matter now.
Because we have decided to bring sponsorships back, but in a more manageable form. In fact, we are not hustling to get all of our shows sponsored. If we have a sponsor, cool. If not, we still will push that podcast out.
What Our Podcasts Deliver
With the exception of the returning Do the Woo, which comes out approximately every two weeks, our four podcasts do not run on a regular schedule. But they have one thing in common. They give us a chance to bring a multimedia experience to our site visitors and fans as we talk with some very interesting people about WordPress, eCommerce, and many other aspects of running a WordPress site. The content is a mix of direct and indirect WordPress experiences and knowledge from some of the coolest peeps around, both well-known and under the radar. And in some cases, we talk about things they have done or are doing outside of the WordPress space.
Why We Podcast
It can be difficult to nail down why one does anything. To be honest, it’s probably a mix of several things. Finding a new medium through which to present content. The fun that comes with learning about people. Absorbing the knowledge of others who are smarter than I am. And so many other things.
It isn’t about the tech. Or getting the coolest equipment to brag about. Seriously, I don’t really care about any of that and, as I am learning, most of our listeners don’t either.
I imagine it’s just something I want to do and like to do.
What Do You Get as a Podcast Sponsor?
Sometimes I think we spend too much time evaluating numbers. Sure, ROI indicators are important. And they play a specific role in marketing budgets. There is no doubt about that. And yes, I do share some of those numbers.
But at the risk of sounding egotistical, we cannot put a price on the brand I have spent 10 years building.
In a nutshell that’s it.

The good news is that our new sponsorship model opens up many more opportunities in terms of affordability. They give you the value you have come to expect from us at a price that won’t break the bank.
