Well, another year gone by. As you might have noticed, I didn’t write a 2017 wrap-up post. I generally don’t. I’m not a reflective kind of guy or much to dwell on the past.
You might consider me the glass half-full type. Looking to what’s happening now and in the future. In fact, those twists and turns we take in our biz reflect our philosophy: live each day and take one step at a time. It’s not that I don’t plan anything, I just prefer staying flexible and taking advantage of each moment in time.
What You May Already Know for 2018
I have shared in various posts what’s coming up in 2018. A mix of this and that, including:
No More Sponsored Podcasts
This is no big secret. All of our podcasts are now sponsor-free.
Do the Woo Podcast Returns
Our current BobWP eCommerce Show started as the Do the Woo Podcast. Well, the Doo the Woo podcast is coming back on the 8th this month. And it’s all around WooCommerce.
BobWP Backer Emerges
If you are a WordPress related business, you might want to check this out: BobWP Backer.
Hints for a Content Marathon—and WordCamps
February 6th and 7th
I’ve hinted that something special is happening those two days. Imagine 48 pieces of content in 48 hours.
A Second Site
This is no major epiphany. We are simply moving over what we had called our plugin shop to a new site. In fact, you may not even have even known it existed as we didn’t promote it a lot. Well, there are a few reasons we are doing this and that will be explained in a post this week.
A Fourth Podcast
I have a strange suspicion that a fourth podcast will evolve from our marathon.
This year, I was able to attend WordCamp Miami, WordCamp Orange County, WordCamp Portland, WordCamp Seattle and WordCamp US thanks to Bluehost, Avalara and some very cool peeps and businesses in the WordPress community. In 2018 WordCamp US will be on my radar. Likely I will also make Portland and Seattle as they are my local Camps. Other than that, no plans.
But on the other hand, I may be looking at some non-WordPress conferences, especially if I can find something more local.
But overall, my preference is hanging at home near the ocean enjoying good food and old movies with Judy and our rescue cat Chester. Home is where my heart is. Also, if I were traveling around, I wouldn’t have time to create all this content for you.
And All the Rest of the Stuff
The title of this post implies that I don’t always plan for everything. Sure you can see what we have in place, but also both Judy and I do live in the moment, so you never know what else will come up in the new year, or what will change.
So here’s to 2018.
