Google Analytics Data Retention Controls
If you use Google Analytics on your WordPress site, you should be aware of this. You have probably received an email about it but just in case, the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) takes effect on May 25th. You will want to wrap your brain around it a bit if you use segmentation, certain custom reports and secondary dimensions in GA. If you want to read a post that gives you a bit more clarification, check this one out.
Free Photo Library for WordPress.com Members
If your site is on WordPress.com, you may have noticed that you now have a library of free images to use on your site from Pixels. If you are a WordPress.com member, it gives you another option to quickly find an image from a collection of 40,000 photos. It’s easy adding media to your site and saves you a lot of time in your search for that perfect picture.
Call for WordCamp US Community Bazaar
If you attended last year’s WordCamp US, you likely visited the Community Bazaar. It was the first time for this one and they will be doing it again come December. It gives local WordPress meetups/communities the chance to be featured and tell everyone what they are doing. It also is a great opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with other meetup organizers. You can learn more about the Community Bazaar here.
First WordCamp Retreat
I know, as if there aren’t already enough WordCamps to fill our time and travel. But this is an interesting concept that was held in Soltau, Germany. Not your typical WordCamp. Although it had the usual talks and such, there were more activities, personal development and networking than the average camp. Remkus de Vries wrote a great post about his experience there over on WPTavern. I’m guessing that this will be only the beginning and that we will see more of these starting to pop up.
