On April 21, Google announced that its’ now free to sell on Google. This is primarily a result of the current threat to the retail sector, specifically for the smaller businesses that are now struggling.
As noted in the post.
Beginning next week, search results on the Google Shopping tab will consist primarily of free listings, helping merchants better connect with consumers, regardless of whether they advertise on Google. With hundreds of millions of shopping searches on Google each day, we know that many retailers have the items people need in stock and ready to ship, but are less discoverable online.
Google also mentions that it it working with existing platform partners including WooCommerce to help the store owners manage their products and inventory via Google.
This is an opportunity for many small shops to get in front of potentially large numbers of customers. And if you are doing paid campaigns through Google already, this is an added bonus.
Google stated that this will be in place before the end of April and their intentions are to expand globally by end of year.
